Shylah Pacheco Hamilton

I am an interdisciplinary artist, and critical ethnic studies educator.

My interests meet at the crossroads of social justice, experimental media, African diaspora feminisms, and radical imagination. I teach, consult and create works that deconstruct colonial ethics. I attempt to think beyond decolonization and focus on reclaiming our humanity, integrity, reasserting our self determination and restoring our ancestral spiritualities. I work under the guidance of my initiated elders of Ile Orunmila Oshun and my ancestral court.

I am co-founder and director of Ubuntu Village, a non-profit dedicated to dismantling anti-Blackness and Native invisibility in art, design and tech spaces. We are fully committed to building holistic, reparative models of engagement for art, design and tech communities that decenter Western hegemonies of culture. We have assisted leaders and administrators at over 50 art, design and tech institutions to begin the process of reconstructing their relationship to coloniality.

As a diviner, I use several tools to help folx understand what their spirit team is trying to tell them. FYI. They always assign homework.
